deanphillips1991
Hey guys, Is this going to be possible? 1. Is there any way to import a word file/long document and have it create the pages with linked boxes etc? 2. Then to unlink some boxes after the fact (for when I want to create cover pages for certain chapters + add images in etc) I know this is asking a lot and it's something I never was able to do in Indesign (sure it's possible but I struggled) Thank you Dean
walt.farrell
#1 is certainly possible. Place the Word file into a Text Frame, then Shift + click on the red linking triangle on the lower right side of the frame. #2 should be possible, but I'd have to experiment. Distill7
1. You need to create at least 1 page with 1 text frame, then either select it (select the edges, the text marker should not appear), then file > place... And choose your word document; or copy paste the text from word to that text frame. From their go the right side, at the bottom you'll see a red triangle, hold shift and left mouse click it once, it'll create more pages with linked text frames. BTW, this is also doable in InDesign, but slightly different steps. 2. Don't unlink text frames, you'll mess your document. Instead use paragraph styles, master pages, and inline/pinned images to format part/chapter pages.
