All seems to be working as expected for me, using the Mac 1.7.1 version of Affinity Photo, but I haven't tested or used it much. After some more experimentation I think I was just being confused by the different way it works now, and especially with the Absolute Size option performing the multiple operations of cropping (selecting image content), resize (to the specified output size) and resampling. It didn't help that when I started an Absolute Size crop of a 6010x4005px image, telling it I wanted to make a 5000x3000px image, it gave me a crop box that was 6010px wide (not 5000) by 3000px high. That confused me completely, as I expected the crop box it presented me with to match the size I requested. I still think there's a bug there, as I can get different results in how the crop box is presented depending on the sequence of actions I take. With thanks to whoever initially posted this photo here in the forums, here's an example of that last point. First: Select Crop Tool, change mode to Absolute Size, specify width 5000px, height 3000px, DPI 300: Next: Cancel out of that crop operation. Choose Crop Tool again. Specify width 5000px, height 3000px, DPI 300, and then change mode to Absolute Size: I then realized that that order of operations didn't work. Note that the output size has reverted to the original size, though the cropbox has the size I asked for. That feels like a possible bug. Anyway, I re-enter a width of 5000px and a height of 3000px and a DPI of 300, and finally get: It may also take awhile to get used to the idea of the cropbox being resizable when I'm doing an absolute size crop. Also, if it's going to be resampling I would like to be able to specify the resampling method, as I can do when using Document > Resize Document. Perhaps I will have to start using ratios instead. HVDB Photography Posted June 19, 2019 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Yes, it's complicated and confusing. I see that in your 2nd example the DPI switched to 72 DPI ... And it becomes more complicated when changing units and / or DPI And as you mentioned, if needed resampling will be applied.
