Problems Opening Designer Upgrade in Windows 10 After Download

Recommended Posts

I have downloaded the latest version of Affinity Designer (and upgrade to 1.7) and Photo. The Photo download was successful but I can't get Designer to open. Once I choose the "download" button, I am never asked for my email or product key. I have uninstalled and reinstalled more than once and still can't get it to open. The message I get after the download is "setup completed successfully". I've tried opening projects I've designed and nothing happens. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure this out but I'm not having any luck.

Here are some details:

  • I purchased my original version of Designer in 2017
  • I am attempting to download Designer 1.7
  • I'm using Windows 10 v.1803 64 bit
  • I get the message that the set up completed successfully
  • Designer will not open

I appreciate any help or suggestions you can provide. Thank you!

Hold down the CTRL key and open Designer, when the new window appears, release the key and click Clear, this will reset the app to default settings. If it still fails to open, uninstall Designer from your system, do a reboot then run the setup for the update again.

First thing to try for any install issue, restart the PC and once restarted go to our setup file in your downloads folder and right click this and select Run As Administrator.

If the install is still failing then can you check this location for me:
%temp%/AffinitySetup

To get to that location, call up the Run box by holding down the Windows key and tapping the letter R.  Copy and paste the above path into the run box and click okay.  That should open a folder, which should contain at least 1 other folder.  If there are more than one, find the latest one and open the folder, you should see 2 log files, setup.log and setui.log if you can PM both of those over to me, i'll be able to advise further.
