Yuri P.
When I change the brush blend mode to overlay, it works Ok and produces the blend as expected. However, when after that I select "Do not set blend mode", the mode still stays "Overlay". Is this expected? To revert from "Overlay" mode, I have to set the mode to "Normal". Staff Chris B Posted June 21, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 21, 2019 Hi Yuri P., This is because when you set the Blend Mode in the Brush Editing dialog, it also updates the Blend Mode setting on the context toolbar. The 'Don't set' option should make the brush inherit whatever is set on the context toolbar and is set on a 'per brush' basis. So I can set a brush to always use Overlay and I can set another brush to Don't set blend mode. For example, set the Basic 16 brush to Overlay and the Basic 32 brush to Don't set blend mode. When I switch to the Basic 32 brush, if a blend mode is already set on the context toolbar, it will use that blend mode. If a blend mode isn't set on the context toolbar, the brush will not use a blend mode. However, if I switch to the Basic 16 brush, it will use the Overlay blend mode and then if I switch to the 32 brush, because the blend mode on the context toolbar has switched to Overlay from the previous brush, this brush will also use Overlay. This isn't really explained in the Help so I'll get that looked at.
