Hi,

When I've placed the last node before the starting node in a magnetic lasso selection, I move the crosshair to hover over the first point—expecting some sort of color-change that indicates that the selection is closed—but I get nothing, If I just pull the cross-hair off, it sets another point. If I click on the initial point, the selection disappears and can't be command-z'd or reselected—just gone!

So,
1) How do I close the magnetic lasso selection and regain use of the cursor w/o setting more points with every move?
2) Can I edit point placement by clicking and dragging selection nodes after closing the selection?
2a) Can the nodes be "nudged" with finer control than possible with the mouse? How?

I've experimented and can't figure it out. "Help" file is no help.

Thanks,

As it should tell you in the Status bar at the bottom of the window, you can double-click to close the selection. If the selection disappears when you close it, that usually means you are in Subtract mode.

After you’ve closed the selection it becomes a ‘marching ants’ selection (which doesn’t have any nodes to click on). If you wanted to modify it you would need to add/subtract new selections.

Not as far as I’m aware.

Thanks all, for responding.

I got it selected—with a single click on the first point. I can't explain why it wasn't working before. However, for whatever reason, all of my experiments confirmed that one click closes the lasso selection and produces marching ants. Two clicks—like it says at the bottom of the screen—causes the selection to disappear, every time (for me). A double click is a double click. I don't understand why it's returning the opposite of the stated result. Any ideas?

Now I have another problem  :-/  In this situation (because of black in the image abutting the black background—which I want to delete), I can't use the wand to select the black background. When I can use the wand, however, I select the background, hit delete, black disappears and I've got the checkerboard.  However, when I select the object w/the mag. lasso, invert the selection and hit delete to get rid of the b'ground—nothing happens; it doesn't delete the black b'grnd. How come it doesn't work like the wand selection? How must I delete the b'ground with the lasso selection?

Thanks again, as always.
