Poor drawing performance on larger canvases

Recommended Posts

I have been trying the new beta of photo on my iPad as 1.7 introduced significant lags on pencil use for large documents.  Although this has improved, there is still quite considerable lag noticeable, especially as one adds layers and details.  This is noticeable on drawing, erasing, most pencil interactions.

To use an example to demonstrate the lag, create a 16000 x 8000 document, start drawing on a layer, add a new layer start drawing, repeat.  It generally only takes around 6 or 7 layers for severe lag to start occurring.  This did not happen for Photo 1.6 and previous versions.

EDIT

I should have stated this is 1.71.140

Just tried same on 1.7.1.141, complete slowdown.

Edit: Also tested file in Designer 1.7.1.1, after moving nodes and shapes around for about 30 seconds seems to trigger slowdown here too.

Guys I think it’s kinda fixed with the beta released today. Thanks Serif,  awesome job.:11_blush: I add two videos first is the App Store Version with unusable lag, second on the beta, also ad the file I tested it on. It’s 6000x4000 pixel.

Yes, I think the Beta is much improved. 10 layer with multiple brush strokes. The only delay experienced occurs on first stroke. After that all good. Add new pixel layer, start again. Brief lag on first touch and then all good. This is with multiple rapid brush strokes. Good as fixed I’d say.
