Resize bug

Create a new device iPhone XS artboard. Insert png file. In the transform pane activate the option to keep (change) the width and height together. Select the move tool.

Resize by dragging the corners. - works OK, the ratio is kept.

Resize by dragging the sides - does not keep the aspect ratio. In the status bar the hint says "Hold shift to ignore aspect ratio". When you hold shift it actually does the opposite — it then keeps the aspect ratio.

Here on Mac I have the status bar state do as you say for placed images but it is correct for drawn items.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hi tomn,

This is correct behaviour. The lock aspect ratio button on the transform box is specifically tied to the W/H input boxes and has no effect on using the handles on the document.

For placed images the default behaviour of the corner handle is to maintain aspect ratio (as that is the common use case for images) however you can use the side handles to tweak this if needed. You can also hold shift down to do the opposite as you say. However the contents of the status bar does change depending on which handle you hover over to ensure that snapping message is correct.
