Select the Zoom Tool -> press space bar to force switch to View Tool -> press left mouse button -> move the page a bit -> release the mouse button -> release the space bar. Although Zoom Tool is active the View Tool icon is still visible until you move it over any panel, then it changes to Zoom Tool icon.
