tuxoche Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Downloaded a trial version (which is 10 days only) version 1.7 for Windows 10. Opening raw files from a Canon 5D MK II, a 6D MK II or a Lumix G81 the images are displayed way too dark in the develop persona (arround 2-3 EV), even though no settings were applied so far. The histogram seems to be almost the same in Affinity, LR or Luminar. Where is the error? ciao tuxoche Quote
Staff Chris B Posted June 11, 2019 Staff Posted June 11, 2019 Hey tuxoche, welcome to the Affinity Forums. I grabbed two Canon 5D Mk II samples and they are opening the same in Affinity Photo and Photoshop. See screenshot at the bottom. What do you normally open them in? Could you attach a sample so I can look into this for you? Also, have you changed any of the settings in the Assistant manager? Mark Ingram Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 @tuxoche, what happens if you develop to 16-bit? @Chris B, you're developing to 16-bit, whereas @tuxoche is developing to 32-bit. Quote
Staff MEB Posted June 11, 2019 Staff Posted June 11, 2019 Hi tuxoche, After opening the RAW file (Develop Persona), go to menu View > Assistant Manager..., change the RAW Output Format dropdown to RGB (16 bit). Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
tuxoche Posted June 11, 2019 Author Posted June 11, 2019 Ok thought this would be in the Assistant, but its already set 16-Bit ciao tuxoche Quote
Mark Ingram Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Did you convert your original image to 32-Bit then? Because the original screenshot you provided was 32-Bit. Quote
tuxoche Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 It is a regular Canon RAW file from a 5D MK II. Here is the view in Windows Explorer and Adobe CR ciao tuxoche Quote
HVDB Photography Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Well it's weekend now. If it's urgent, would you try to upload the RAW file or provide a download link ? prsdeb Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 I'm noticing the same issue. In my example, though not as drastic, you can see the raw file in View NX-i (Nikon) is slightly overexposed. The same raw file in Affinity is darker. And yes, it's set to 16-bit. I have my camera set to neutral so there should be nothing applied to the raw file. Quote

Mark Ingram Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 @prsdeb / @tuxoche, can you show me a screenshot that includes the 32-Bit preview panel please? Quote

Mark Ingram Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 1 minute ago, tuxoche said: You mean the tonemap persona? No, in the bottom right of Develop persona, there should be a panel called "32-Bit Preview", or "32P" if it's been shortened. If you can't see it, try using the View | Studio | 32-Bit Preview menu item. Quote
