[SOLVED] AD 1.7.0 Upgrade/install Issues

Hi

Downloaded the 1.7 upgrade, tried to install.

Get "Setup Failed" with no reason why....

Cannot install upgrade.

As a first step, check that the download is correct and complete:

They are legit.

I get the upgrade install screen. It tries to install... but at end of installing, it says "setup failed"

Also, after failed setup... it changes the AD icon association to the Publisher icon.

So, if I try to double-click on a afdesign file extension, it tries to run Publisher.

I can fix that by re-associating the extention

Try running this Microsoft troubleshooter and then run the AD 1.7 installer again.

Tried the Troubleshooter.... Nope... didn't work

Rebooted PC... still not installing. I finally got APhoto to install though.

The files Setup.log and SetupUI.log in the newest subfolder of your %Temp%\AffinitySetup folder may offer up some clues.

Can't find... please provide the exact path.

There are are several folders under my user folders

I found it, but it really doesn't tell me where it fails from what i can see... it just says it falied at the end of the UI log

%Temp%\AffinitySetup is (a shortcut to) the exact path. Copy it to the Windows clipboard, press and hold the WinKey (i.e. the key with the Windows logo, to the left of the space bar) and press and release the R key to display the Run dialog. Paste the copied text into the box and press the ‘OK’ button. In the Explorer window that opens up, look for the most recent subfolder and find the log files in there.

Edit: I see you found it while I was typing! Attach the log files here, or wait for a member of Serif staff to provide a Dropbox link if you’d rather keep them private.

Let’s hope all that verbiage means something to the developers and/or QA staff!

This is the only place in the UIlog that had any issues.... but i is way up the log.

You might try rebooting Windows, and running the install again. If it still fails, right-click on the installer file and choose Run as Administrator.

Finally got it....

 

I went and messed wih Config.msi folder. It was read only.
