MunchkinWorks Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 [Update] I can confirm the following: This issue doesn't happen when I'm using exclusively the mouse and change to another window. It happens when I'm using the tablet and then change windows or alt-tab. Then stops working properly until I close and reopen the program. Hello all. I recently updated to 1.7 and been experiencing this behaviour. When I first start the program everything is fine. As soon I alt-tab to do something else and return to designer, it stops reacting properly to stroke movements from both tablet pen and mouse. I recorded a sample as you see below. This is a desktop computer running Windows 10. Drivers are mostly up to date. This behaviour also happens in designer persona, strokes made with the vector brush tool are always straight no matter how much I move around, and it's hard to work with the pen tool as well. Any idea what could be causing this? Kheewz and Seven_turnA 2 Quote
Seven_turnA Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 I have a similar bug. This issue happens when I'm using Wacom tablet and mouse. It's looks like when I changed the windows a few times the bug will happen. The Wacom pen will can't be control. Then I can't use zoom tool and view tool.Until I close the Designer and reopen it. This bug only appears on 1.7 version. My system is Windows 10 64-bit version 1903.My Wacom tablet is Intuos Pro PTH-660.Drivers are the latest version. Quote
Hikitsune-Red Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Posted on another, similar thread. But this is exactly the bug. It occurs with both mouse and tablet. If you use mouse instead, it draws a straight line between where I pressed, and where I released. Quote
Staff Sean P Posted June 13, 2019 Staff Posted June 13, 2019 Hi guys, Thanks for letting us know. I've reproduced this - it seems to be caused by clicking on the Designer UI (not the document area) with a Wacom Pen whilst your focus is in a different app. If you click on the document space when the focus is elsewhere it doesn't go wrong. Could you confirm that is the case for you all please. I'll get it passed on to development. Hikitsune-Red, what tablet model are you using? Quote
Staff Gabe Posted December 19, 2019 Staff Posted December 19, 2019 We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Wacom Tablet starts drawing straight line after changing focus) of the program in the latest Windows customer beta of Affinity Photo and/or Affinity Designer. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below. However, you will need to enable Windows INK inside the Wacom Mapping tab. The 1.8.0.526 beta builds are in links at the top of these beta forum posts. Affinity Photo 1.8.0.526 for Windows Affinity Designer 1.8.0.526 for Windows Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.0 update/patch to all customers. Alkylidene Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Hi, This issue keeps persisting in version 1.8.0.585. It still breaks down when clicking back in the UI from another window, while using a pen tablet. The issue affects brush strokes going into straight lines, but also click-drag with the zoom tool stops working. It does not do it when clicking back in the document area, or when using mouse only. Enabling Windows Ink in the Wacom mapping preferences does fix the issue, but in turn breaks the possibility of binding the modifier "Alt + R Click" or "Alt + R Click + L Click" to the pen buttons to easily change the brush size and hardness (Windows Ink interferes with these). This bug is indeed a workflow-breaking issue for any artist using the software with a tablet, as we're constantly alt+tabbing to look at references or dragging new images in the document etc.. We should not have to be so careful not to click the UI when coming back to the program, and I believe fixing this bug should be one of the high priority tasks in upcoming releases. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted March 16, 2020 Staff Posted March 16, 2020 The new 1.8 version is using Windows Ink, so you would need to enable that if you want to have pressure and to have the straight line issue fixed. Quote
Alkylidene Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 Thank you for your reply Gabe! Indeed Windows Ink fixes the issue of the straight lines. How would you suggest then to configure the Wacom tablet to allow for easily changing the brush size and hardness? As I mentioned, binding the modifier "Alt + R Click" or "Alt + R Click + L Click" to the pen buttons stops working when using Windows Ink due to the right click behaviour of WIndows Ink. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted March 27, 2020 Staff Posted March 27, 2020 I'm afraid we don't have a workaround for that just yet. You can try to map [ and ] to your tablet and use that to change the size?? Quote
