Cannot upload Affinity Designer.

Hello. I have just purchased Affinity Designer for my desk top MacOS Mojave version 10.14.5.  I did everything to download it and now it sits on my dock and remains unopenable. I am a beginner in all this and I have no one here to help me. The forums confuse me and given that your trial worked I did not expect for this to fail. Is there anyone that can plain speak and guide me step by step to a place where what I bought is accessible. Thank you and regards

Thank you Callum for responding. I really am a rank beginner but want to learn. I researched DMG file but none the wiser. Step by step if you can........

1. Double-click the Affinity Designer DMG file to open it, and you’ll see a Finder window which includes the application icon itself, some form of arrow, and a shortcut to the Applications folder.
2. Simply drag the application’s icon to your Applications folder and you’re done: the software is now copied/installed into the applications folder. It’s pretty simple just dragging there the application to your Applications folder is the entire installation process.
3. DMG files when opened are mounted by your system, like a sort of virtual hard drive. When you’re done installing the application, it’s a good idea to unmount the Affinity Designer DMG in the Finder when you’re done installing: to do so, just click the little “Eject” arrow on the left shown Finder side of the mounted Affinity Designer.
    
4. (Optional) You can copy now afterwards (after you finished above installation) the initial downloaded Affinity Designer DMG file to some safe location, in order to keep it as a sort of backup archive.
