Staff MEB Posted June 6, 2019 Staff Posted June 6, 2019 Hi Danny1, Welcome to Affinity Forums We didn't specify which application you bought/are using. I'm assuming is Affinity Photo due to Photoshop's reference, in any case both Affinity Photo and Designer (our design/illustration app) have two text tools to write text: the Artistic Text Tool and the Frame Text Tool. The first - Artistic Text Tool - has an "A" as an icon and is mostly used for single words or sentences where you may want to apply/create some fancy text effects. Click and drag the tool on canvas to set the initial text size, then start typing. The Text Frame Tool (its icon is a "T") is mostly used for blocks of text - you have to click and drag on canvas to create the text frame first, then start typing inside it. You probably only see one of the icons on the left toolbar (the other is hidden on a pop-up). To access the other click the small grey triangle on the tool button to open the pop-up and select the other. Here you can find link for video tutorials covering most app features/funcionality. Old Bruce Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Enlarge your Document window , it is at the bottom. Also go to the menu View > Customize Tools There are many more available. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
Staff MEB Posted June 6, 2019 Staff Posted June 6, 2019 Hi Danny1, Go to menu View > Customise Tool and set the Number of Columns (on the bottom) to 2. You should then be able to see all tools on smaller screens. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
