FinnHummel
Hi, I purchased AffinityPhoto via Appstore. So I don't have a product-key to update or re-install my product. I am going trough the procedure with Apple for the second time now and I will document it here. Hopefully it will safe other peoples time! More to come when the process & documentation is finished.....
Staff MEB Posted June 6, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 6, 2019 Hi FinnHummel, Welcome to Affinity Forums If you already have the version 1.6 installed, run the Mac App Store app, click the Updates section on the left (last of the list) and click the update button on the right near the apps' icon. FinnHummel
SOLUTION I just solved it: It is NOT working via "Updates" You have to goto "Purchases" and install the new version in the purchase! :)))
FinnHummel
Funny though! I spend 3,5 hours with support from Affinity & Apple and no one was able to direct me to the right spot :o)
VIPStephan
I did this, too, but I think it would have sufficed to hit Cmd-R to refresh the updates page, and it should show up in the list of updates.
FinnHummel
CMD-R did not work for me. it only showed up in "käufe" (purchased) and requested new installation of the app
vamodrive
after installation a Product Key is needed, no idea where I can found it
Staff MEB Posted June 6, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 6, 2019 Hi vamodrive, Welcome to Affinity Forums From where have you bought the application? Mac App Store and Microsoft Store don't use/require product keys - the application is associated with you Apple or Microsoft ID. If you bought the app from the Affinity Store you should have received an e-mail titled Affinity Product Key - Order XXXXXXXXXX: the e-mail and product key combination are on that e-mail. Alternatively you can also sign-in in the Affinity Store with the credentials you used to create an account there (required when buy your first product there), then click the avatar icon on the top right of the page and select Downloads & products keys. You will find the e-mail/product key combination there as well. Let us know if you still have trouble. What did the button next to the Affinity app in the Mac App Store ("MAS") say when you could find it in the "Purchases" list but not in the "Updates" list? If it said "Download" or "Install" then that almost certainly was either because you had uninstalled your 1.6.x version of Affinity Photo (which is unnecessary) or you had moved it from the top level of the Applications folder where it was originally installed. If you uninstalled it, then there is nothing to update. If you moved it, then the MAS app won't find it because it only looks for apps in that location. robthebruce
Hi FinnHummel I had the same problem. This solution worked for me: Move version 1.6 to the trash. (only the app, not the preferences) Go to AppStore. tadaa! Version 1.7 with new icon is visible. Download your software again. I'm quite sure I didn't lose any preferences. My assets are still there.
