Hi everyone, very excited about this new program!  I am hoping to, one day, be able to kiss adobe goodby but I have a question.

I've been using adobe products for so long, it's always been so automatic to make a pdf through whatever program I was using, so now I am wondering how to make a print ready pdf without acrobat?  I am using a macbook pro and I know I have Preview installed but is that good enough for print ready files?  I'm currently paying for Creative Cloud, and using multiple programs and I think there is the option to just pay for 1 program but if there is something else out there, I would love to get away from adobe all together.

Thanks so much for any help/advise.

Why do you need Acrobat for a print-ready document? Export your layout in Publisher with the press-ready setting for PDF. I still need Acrobat Pro for special cases or making forms. Other options are Foxit Phantom or all the other PDF programmes that are not just PDF readers.

I use Nuance PowerPDF on Windows (I think there is also a Mac version) to create PDF files just by using "Print...". Works great and afterwards, you can edit them too. Also, the document is very precise converted to PDF format.

Joachim, if I uninstall Acrobat, I don't think I will have the ability to create pdf's from Publisher, will I?  I could probably export the layout and have Preview generate the pdf but I need to be able to select my own settings, depending on the print shop I'm sending the artwork too. Most of them have their own pre-sets that they like me to use.

Bad_Wolf, thank you for suggesting Nuance Power PDF. I am familiar with their dictation software but didn't know they had a pdf program, I will look into that!

You do not need Acrobat for creating PDF from Publisher. The Affinity Software uses PDFlib library. And yes you can export PDF for your print shop. There are a variety of export settings that should meet the demands of your print shop. Just try it.
