Bug? Definitely slows the inpaint process

Recommended Posts

Process

select transparent areas

grow selection

Fill

Notice in the short vid, the fill is initially ‘solid and white’ so it fills the transparent area with white, however you will notice that when I change this to inpainting, the area stays white.

The processing then starts but is seems that before it can inpaint it first much remove the white to make it transparent again.

At this point the Fill process begins.  Should this be happening this way?

Which iPad are you using out of curiosity?

12.9-inch iPad Pro -1TB

iOS 12.3.1

I believe that there is an issue because to do this task with 1.6 was easy.  This is only a two image pano.

With the previous op it easily stitch and processed a 14 image pano, and did the task we’re talking about here with ease.

Either they have changed the process, as they did with the “+” button removal or this is not working properly.

To be exact, I have tried the stitch again on this image, which was really fast, but I am getting some pretty doggy processing on this Fill issue.

Unfortunately I have a problem sometimes with “level’, and handheld camera with large lenses, so I really would like this feature to run smoothly.  Sometimes you just need to take the shot before the light goes away so no time to get the tripod.

Now because I have tried to start anew, the fill setting has set itself to inpainting which has now created another problem.  When the Fill starts now it just ‘hangs’.

How can I reset the programs without deleting it as I will loose all my work that is also stored on my iPad.  Unfortunately I can’t move them into photos, and my upload speed is so slow you can see the ‘bits’ leave.

I would also very much like a way to revert to the latest version 1.6.x -- Since v1.7 has been buggy for so many of us what are the chances that Serif will make v1.6 available again on a limited basis?

Moving your files out of sandbox and AP folder is always a good idea. You can access any saved documents in the Affinity Photo folder. Just copy and move/paste them somewhere else. If you have documents on the home screen in AP that have not been saved, then they are only stored in Affinity’s sandbox. You need to tap the hamburger menu on each document and save them. They will be saved to the Affinity Photo folder and will need to be moved too. Deleting the app deletes the folder and it contents. Sandbox content is also deleted.

You should try resetting your iPad. Press and hold power and home button together till you see Apple symbol.

@p_mac judging by the number of reports I suspect there is an issue with AP on some of the newer models. I haven't had any major issues on my 1st gen pro but having said that I experienced a problem reported by another poster relating to the histogram image on raw being significantly different between his iPad and desktop versions. The mods tried the file and had no differences. The poster then deleted the app and reinstalled, reporting back that the histogram was now the same on both. Out of curiosity (luckily I'm no cat) I tried his file and also had a compressed histogram similar to him. So I also deleted and reinstalled the app, reloaded the raw file and the histogram was now correctly shown.

Moral of the story is for many people it may be worthwhile deleting and reinstalling the  after such a major release update. I hope the devs fix your issues soon. :)
