durock
Sample points (Info Studio) cannot be moved from the default position within the Develop Persona. It works properly in the Photo Persona. This was also a bug in ver 1.6 but may not have been reported. Chris B
Staff Chris B Posted June 6, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 6, 2019 Hey durock, unfortunately it looks like this may never have been reported (I've never seen it) however, I will now log it with the developers for you. Thanks for letting me know. durock
Bug was not fixed in 1.7.1 or 1.7.2. Please address this in the next update.
walt.farrell
On Windows, I can "move" the sampler by dragging out another one from the icon in the Info panel, which then replaces the one in the image. Moving an existing one is not possible, I think, due to the lack of a Move Tool in the Develop Persona. [Edit: The bug may be that in Photo Persona the View Tool will move one, but it won't in the Develop Persona.] Does that approach work on Mac, too, or is that part of your problem? durock
I'm on a Mac running macOS Mojave. Sample points can be moved in the Photo persona from its default location but not in the Develop Persona. Even adding a new Sample point does not work. durock
By the way, dragging the sample point places it wherever I drop it. However, I am still unable to move it to another location.

However, I am still unable to move it to another location. I can't truly move a sample point in the Develop Persona either, but by dragging out from the icon in the Info Panel I can replace it with one located somewhere else. If that works for you, then you have a way to perform a more complex kind of pseudo-move operation, by relacing the old sampler. I updated my earlier post to mention that the View Tool can move sampler points in the Photo Persona, but not in the Develop Persona. That is perhaps the bug they still haven't fixed. On the other hand, according to the Help, the only way we're supposed to be able to move a sampler is to drag it out from the panel again. From https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/pages/Panels/infoPanel.html Quote To reset the target position, drag a new target from the panel to replace the existing target. So, if that works for you, then the behavior matches what the Help describes. Staff Patrick Connor Posted March 14, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 14, 2020 We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Unable to move Info targets in Develop Persona) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below. The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts. Affinity Photo 1.8.1.611 for Windows Affinity Photo 1.8.2.174 for Mac These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version. Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.1/1.8.2 update/patch to all customers.
