Charlie S.
Hi there, Is there anyway to stop Affinity automatically savings files within the affinity app? If you export/save the file to the ‘Photo’ folder Affinity creates in the ‘On my iPad’ location in Files, you end up with 2x copies of the same file; one in Affinity and one in Files which isn’t ideal. Also if you open the file from the Files app, a duplicate is opened in Affinity, so you end up with 3x copies at that point. in other apps, the app folder in Files mirrors what is being stored in the actual app itself. Many thanks Charlie
Staff Callum Posted June 4, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 4, 2019 Hi Charlie S, Welcome to the forums Unfortunately there is no way to do this I'm afraid. You will have to remove the files from the welcome screen manually. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. The iPad unfortunately shows only one tab at a time. When working on a file stored outside of ram or (in the case of iOS), sandbox you are inevitably going to have two copies. The original and the one opened and stored in ram to work on. To minimise the number of files created, I'd recommend the following workflow. Once you have saved your file, close the thumbnail and reopen the saved file using Open in Place method (rather than import). A new thumbnail will be created on the home page. You can click on the thumbnail any time to open into the Workspace, make edits and save from Documents menu or from Home menu and changes will be reflected in the original file and the thumbnail. If you close the thumbnail the original file will still retain the saved edits but you will need to reopen it to do any further edits.
