Nana
Hi Serif Staff, Reading between the lines from the current Publisher pre-order email sent out, it suggests that Serif would prefer users to purchase from their own Serif App Store than the Apple App Store. I can see the advantage in doing that. For example, it helps to break away from Apple's strict sandboxing of application that is plaguing some plugins. My question is, would Serif consider helping existing Apple store users to move to your Serif App Store version given that Apple store users have already paid for the app? I am talking from the view of Photo and Designer MacOS apps in particular. It doesn't make sense to run some Serif apps under Apple sandboxing while Publisher does not. I can foresee this leading to some issues. I would prefer that all three apps (Designer, Photo and Publisher) run as the Serif App Store version. So if Serif would consider either issuing existing Mac App store new licenses to help migrating from the Apple Mac Apps store or even at a significant discount (after all, the Mac Apps store users have already paid for the apps). I would be interested in your response. Thank you. Nana CartoonMike, Jon Ball and decode 1
QayG
Hello, I've had exactly the same question, when I received your email about the pre-order of publisher. I also think that it is a better way to regroup all the apps into my affinity account if it is possible. So I'm interested in your answer too, Many thanks in advance. jmwellborn
This would not be one bit fair to either Serif or Apple. I have a suggestion. Do what I did. I originally bought Photo through the MAS because it was not then available for MAC directly from the Affinity store. Subsequently I purchased Designer directly from Affinity. Now I have Publisher already preordered from Affinity. Planning for a full integration via the Affinity store, I purchased Photo again (the price is less than a restaurant dinner for two) directly from the Affinity store, and deleted the MAS version from my Applications file. It is only my personal opinion, but I feel that it is a wee bit unseemly to “nickel and dime” Affinity for choices we make. walt.farrell
This has been asked many times, and answered by Serif many times. They do not know, and have no way of knowing, who has purchased from the MAS (nor from the Windows Store) as Apple and Microsoft do not share their customer data. Therefore they have no way to give a discount to those customers who would now prefer to acquire Affinity products from Serif directly. From prior history, and other forum communications from Serif staff members, there should soon be other discounts available for Publisher, though perhaps only 20% rather than the 30% offered to the beta testers.
