That isn’t a bug. Treating the placeholder text as a single object allows it to keep filling the text frame as you resize it.

If you want to edit the text, right-click on it and choose ‘Expand’ from the context menu. There’s also an option under Preferences.

Very good!  Just one of these options, hidden somewhere in the app.

Just came across the same problem as I was following a tutorial.  It might not be a bug - but for a newbie like me the solution is not obvious. 

Is there a reason why it would be assumed a user would know this?

I'm new to desktop publishing software so sorry if this question sounds dumb.
