Bug in macOS 1.7.0.337

Recommended Posts

New document (picked Letter, landscape).  Page appeared.  Chose File...Spread setup...  Chose Margins.  Pressed 'pick from printer' which changed one of my margins.  Pressed OK.  NO CHANGE in the blue outline for the margin.  Tried a second time.  Same result.  Quit.  Restarted.  New document (picked Letter, portrait).  Went to File...Spread setup.    Chose Margins again. Pressed 'pick from printer' which changed one of my margin values, just like before.  Pressed OK.  NO CHANGE.  Went back into Spread setup and manually typed in a new value.  Pressed OK.  CHANGED!  This method worked.  Please check the 'pick from printer' function and write statement when OK is pressed immediately after.

I think you mean File...Document Setup (or File > Document Setup).

I am not seeing this on Mac. Margins from Printer are set properly each time, both from the New Document dialog or the Document Setup after opening a file or making a new document.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

"Retrieve Margin from Printer" is an already reported bug:

When I click "Retrieve Margin from Printer" I still see those quite large values become set.

But different to my experience in September when I click "Okay" with this auto-set printer margins there is no effect at all for the visible margins on page. Also, when opening the window again, my previous manually set margins were set again.

Since also other apps try to enter weird printer margins I got used easily just not to use this button in any application.

You can select "Retrieve Margin from Printer" at two spots: in Document Setup only for its first initial setup (New documents). For existing document it is in the Spread setup.

I was either blind or for some unknowable reason checked how it works with Designer.
