jimfastcar
Novice user of Affinity here.... I am currently using the iPad version on my iPad Pro 12", and am debating getting a MacBook 15" for larger screen. At the end of the day, does the iPad version of the software afford me most of the functionality of the desktop version ? Especially since I would need to spend $ 3000 for a MacBook ! Again, I do not anticipate ever being a "power user", my out of camera pics are reasonable and so far have been using mostly the cropping tool and some brightness / contrast. Don't ever expect to get into masking elements, etc. Thanks
DM1
The iPad version currently has all the General features and many of the advanced features. The next release (due soon) has even more advanced features. Even a power user can achieve their results on iPad now. Ulysses 1 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Paul Mudditt
Totally agree with Dave, I bought a second hand MacBook just to try Affinity on a larger screen, but still use my iPad version for everything and MacBook just contains my backups now. LionelD
@jimfastcar I just saw the attached screenshot of a Tip on my iPad; seems it has the built-in ability to share to a larger screen using a USB-C cord. I don’t have any details, haven’t done it yet, but I do think it’s real. Won’t cost anything like the figures you mentioned. LionelD
Actually, the greater the resolution of your screen the more it’s going to obscure little details (and errors) that are more visible on a screen with lower resolution. I briefly transitioned from an HD screen to a 4K screen while working on some large stitched images, and I found the 4K screen to be rather treacherous because it hid small flaws that really did needed to be corrected. It also made my images look a lot smaller, which was not good for my ego. By the way Apple is offering a multi-port adapter you can supposedly use to mirror your iPad screen to an external display; see attached screenshot. Check this is the correct component before you invest. Regards Lionel
DM1
Lionel, I have a first gen iPad Pro with lightning connection only. I did get a lightning to hdmi for watching movies on a non networking tv in caravan, but haven't tried it yet. I'm pretty sure it can airplay, so should work. I'll have to try it on the Home tv.
