Command + A Crashes Publisher

Recommended Posts

Every time you want to select the text with Command+A Publisher crashes immediately. On a MacOSX.

Edit: Just checked the Windows version and there this doesn't happen.

I am on MAC Sierra v. 10.12.6, Publisher v. .371.    Happens here too.    Deselect Command + D works.   Select Next Option + Command + ] and Select Previous Option + Command + [ don't work but don't crash the app.

Hi,

Can you give us any more details? Basically in the simplest case this appears fine for me. @Seneca - it would be useful to know if you are also running on a macOS earlier than Mojave?

[EDIT] There is a crash dump in the other thread about this problem, which indicates the tester is running Mojave and the crash is related to the processing of spelling underlines. There were changes in this area last week so it adds up. Any further information you can give us could still be helpful though.

Hi @AdamW,

This is really bizarre. I can't reproduce this Command + A crash any more.

Yesterday, every time I created just a simple text frame and filled it with the Lorem Ipsum,  Command + A would crash the application every time.

Trying this same thing today doesn't crash it any more. So, really strange.

I'm running on MacOSX Mojave 10.14.16 Beta.

Hi Seneca,

No problem, I've seen the crash dump so I know it's 'a thing'. We can take a more in-depth look tomorrow.

I have just tried this again, using Mac Sierra.  I created a new document, and typed in a bit of text.   Then I tried SELECT>Select All, and it was fine.  Then I deselected the  text and tried Command + A.   Fine again.  Then I opened a recent .afpub document and tried SELECT>Select All and got the Special Characters including the indications of linked text frames, but no highlighted text. However, also no crash.  Deselected that and tried Command + A and got the immediate crash.

I hope this helps.

I am not getting the crash. But I noticed that there is a bug if I select all using Command + A or the Menu item with a text caret in text in a text frame from a master page I cannot use the command + D for deselecting. All the text remains selected.

This is how it looks with text in a text frame drawn on a page
