Staff MEB Posted May 31, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 31, 2019 Hi Matteo Borghi, Welcome to Affinity Forums Rulers are already available in both Photo and Develop Personas on both OS's under View > Show Rulers as walt.farrell pointed out. Fixx
...but how these help in lens correction routines? Grids help and are available too. Guides would be even better, but I think you cannot access guides in Develop. Matteo Borghi

I don't know how they'd be useful, but he's the one who asked for them. We're merely pointing out that they're available. I am not asking this for academic interest but I also do a lot of lens correction work, with images coming from all kinds of sources. I use all kinds of makeshift "rulers" (that is "guides", actually) to see if lines are curved or not upright. Like dragging image to window edge to use is as reference line, or dragging a panel to a long shape and placing it above a line in image. Very kludgey work. Grid should help this but I find it clumsy: gridlines are not in the right places and grid appearance hinders visibility. walt.farrell
Matteo Borghi
Damn, yes, I was confusing rulers with guides. I know I can use the grid, but I would prefer to be able to move the guides in the correct place. But I assume I will have to use the grid instead, as other users suggested me. In the Develop Persona you have to use the Guides Manager to set or move Guides. View > Guides Manager That will give you a dialog that looks like this: The icons I've marked will give you a new horizontal or vertical guide, each centered on your image by default: You can add more (they always start out centered), and you can click on the field for a guide and adjust it by typing a new location. It's not as handy as being able to drag them, but it can be done. The rulers can help you with the positioning. Staff MEB Posted June 4, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 4, 2019 The Guides Manager is not available on Mac (Develop Persona). Only on Windows. This is a known issue that's already logged to be looked at. The image appearance changes, but it can be corrected by choosing a different tool. I don't know if that's been reported before, so I created a report: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.
