applewoodj
Anthropics and Topaz Studio cause photo to immediately crash upon launch. Filter Forge opens, but crashes after applying. All three worked without problems on all previous beta versions.
Claude_ch
The same happen for Nik Collection, it's worse now. PS : I know there is a problem with nik for a while now
Staff MEB Posted May 22, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 22, 2019 Hi applewoodj, Claude_ch, Thanks for your reports. We have made a few changes in the latest build to improve plugins support. Looks like there's still a few things to work on. I've logged this to be looked at. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
nwhit
Same for Alien Skin's Eye Candy. Can't open at all now. Crashes APh every time. -------------------- iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020 i7 72GB) • AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB • macOS Sonoma MacBook Pro, 13", M1 2020 • 16 GB • macOS Sonoma iPad Air 2022
Staff MEB Posted May 23, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 23, 2019 Hi applewoodj, Claude_ch, nwhit, The crash issues should now be fixed in Affinity Photo Customer Beta 1.7.0.128. Alien Skin's plugins never worked correctly in Affinity Photo on Mac even before the changes made in the build (1.7.0.127) so these issues are still present but the plugins should not crash Affinity on launch. nwhit
Just tried Eye Candy with 128 and it didn't crash, so that might be fixed, but still no usable preview. -------------------- iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020 i7 72GB) • AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB • macOS Sonoma MacBook Pro, 13", M1 2020 • 16 GB • macOS Sonoma iPad Air 2022
GeoffM33
My NIK plugins crashed the app under .127, but seems OK now under .128, but took ages to load up at first try. Whole computer struggled. (iMac mid 2010, OS 10.13.6, 3.06 GHz Core i3, RAM 4 GB - will be installing more soon.) Felt like heavy memory pressure.
GeoffM33
NIK plugins Dfine 2 (noise removal) & Sharpener Pro 3 now work OK as mentioned, but I experimented with Silver FX b/w converter and got the 'updating fonts' message which locks you out, needing a force quit to recover. (I've not tried the various NIK colour plugins because I've found they are unusable due to the total inaccuracy of their preview window in AF Photo.) nwhit
Still crashing beta 130 90% of time on launch of EC plugin. -------------------- iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020 i7 72GB) • AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB • macOS Sonoma MacBook Pro, 13", M1 2020 • 16 GB • macOS Sonoma iPad Air 2022
Staff MEB Posted May 27, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 27, 2019 Hi nwhit, I will install/checkout it on my system and see how it goes. Have you ever used the Eye Candy plugins in earlier Betas without crashing? A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
nwhit
Yes, 128 didn't seem to crash, or at least it didn't the handful of times I tried it. -------------------- iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020 i7 72GB) • AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB • macOS Sonoma MacBook Pro, 13", M1 2020 • 16 GB • macOS Sonoma iPad Air 2022
TomM1
Just to add that Eye Candy opens for me in 130 but there is no image. website Mac mini (2018) 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7 64 GB • Radeon Pro 580 8 GB • macOS Monterey
nwhit
Interesting! Based on that, I tried it again, but closed about a dozen tabs, some of which were large docs. EC now opens, shows a preview image, albeit not accurate (mostly monochrome), and does produce the effect. Did it twice, so seems to be working when I don't have a lot of tabs going. Mac High Sierra. -------------------- iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020 i7 72GB) • AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB • macOS Sonoma MacBook Pro, 13", M1 2020 • 16 GB • macOS Sonoma iPad Air 2022
TomM1
I would also mention that if I open EC from AP choose an effect then press ok, it actually does apply the filter. But without a preview it is impractical. 1.7.0.134 website Mac mini (2018) 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7 64 GB • Radeon Pro 580 8 GB • macOS Monterey
nwhit
Same here on 134. Essentially a monochrome and inaccurate preview. Keep hoping Affinity can get it working! -------------------- iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020 i7 72GB) • AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB • macOS Sonoma MacBook Pro, 13", M1 2020 • 16 GB • macOS Sonoma iPad Air 2022
TomM1
EC is completely gone with 1.7. Oh well. website Mac mini (2018) 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7 64 GB • Radeon Pro 580 8 GB • macOS Monterey
