You can tell I am a beginner... If someone's working in the Develop persona they probably started with a RAW file, but otherwise it's hard to tell. AP will behave the same regardless of which image format is being edited. If you assume the answer's "yes" you won't have any problems. In the very first Beginners Series tutorial ("Opening & Saving") watch carefully what the presenter selects at around the 0:55 mark & note its file extension. Does that answer your question?
