eProps Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Okay, I am running a new iMac 2019, 3.7 GHz core i5, 32 GB which I would think would be sufficient to run Photo without issue (for a newbie). I am new to photo editing, this the first photo editing program I have owned and was looking forward to the experience. However, I am becoming increasingly frustrated by the program running slow and sluggish, causing the computer fan to run like it is processing to its extreme. The problems seems to start once I open a live filter, I am just have 2-4 adjustment layers open; once a live filter is open the fan starts to run and the responsiveness diminishes. This happens consistently every time I try using Photo. Please Help! Quote
Staff MattP Posted May 19, 2019 Staff Posted May 19, 2019 Hi eProps, Sorry your question had not been addressed already, as a new forum member you needed to wait for an admin to approve the post in order for it to be visible to the community (we had a lot of spammers a while back, so this measure is still in place, sorry...) Are you able to try the Photo 1.7 Beta (current version is here) and let me know if that's any better for you? Live filter layers are going to be comparatively slow because they require a lot of processing and are re-created for every draw. The new 1.7 Beta uses GPU acceleration to achieve better responsiveness and will be released soon... Let us know if that works for you... Thanks! Matt Patrick Connor 1 Quote
