Thomas M. Braun
I have a lot of older Type 1 fonts for Windows and recently switched to iMac. Now, when using Adobe software, if you copy Type 1 fonts into the correct Adobe folder, you can use them even on Mac with Adobe products. Does anyone know if the same is possible with Affinity? Does it work? All in all, it's a major decision to me, because saving on the software is only interesting to me if I don't have to buy all my fonts completely new... Thanks for taking the time to answer! Thomas
Staff Lee D Posted May 17, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 17, 2019 Hi Thomas, Type 1 fonts can be used in Affinity apps, just need to install them into the default font directory for macOS/Windows. See this post for more info on when support was added. Thomas M. Braun
Fixx
OSX does not support PS Type 1 Windows fonts, only the mac variety IMHO. Some applications (like Adobe CS2 onwards) support windows type directly but you have to place them in a special folder to make app to see them. Thomas M. MikeW
I would personally use TransType (from Fontlab) to convert the PS Type 1 fonts to TrueType. Thomas M. Braun
