How to make a Document have a Transparent Background in Affinity Photo

I can't seem to remember for the life of me how to make my documents have a transparent background from the getgo on Affinity Photo. Any help?

Make a "New > Doc" and then under the color settings check the "transparent background" checkbox.

And for images with an already white background there is "Filter > Colors > Remove white background", though it might also remove the whites used in other image portions, so having a selection of where exactly to apply a background remove then might be desired to have first. Selecting portions and deleting will do a similar job.

Honestly I don't care much about Affinity's strange localisation handling and language translation mismatches here.
