Image handling in Publisher

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "linking" to Photo. You should already be able to use File > Edit in Photo from Publisher, if you have Photo 1.7 Beta installed.

Eventually, if you have Photo 1.7 installed you'll also be able to use the Photo Persona in Publisher.

The file format for Publisher is 1.7.0.x and the Photo 1.6.5 can't read those point seven files. The other way works well, if you download the Photo beta you will be able to use that for editing but again the 1.6.5 version won't read the beta files.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Affinity Publisher 1.7.0 only recognises Affinity Photo 1.7.0 for "edit in" to be enabled. Also the other personas in Affinity Publisher retail builds will recognize the installation of Affinity Photo. As the retail version is not available yet, the best way to enable Edit in Photo in Publisher beta (right now) is to install Affinity Photo 1.7.0 beta also. As explained above Publisher uses the 1.7 file format, so edit in cannot be enabled for 1.6 release build of Photo, as it doesn't understand the file format.

Sorry, don't really understand.  With Serif Pageplus and photoplus I was able to select an image in pp and I got an option to use photoplus to modify the image.  Is this not going to be possible with Affinity Publisher and Photo ?

Hello @Squaredancer,

you can select 'File > Edit in Photo' if you have APh beta 1.7 installed. This will open the entire document (not just the image) in APh and use all the tools available there.

At a later time there also will be a Photo Persona. This will - as I understand it - allow you to edit an image within APub with the capabilities of APh. The Photo Persona and the Designer Persona are  just not available yet, due to the fact that all of this is still in development. Since both have been released as a 'Release Candidate' just recently I assume this will arrive soon :)

Cheers,
d.
