Blend Interior Effects as Group issue when opening PSD file

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm looking into switching from Photoshop to Affinity Photo and while loading one of my PSD's I noticed a layer not being blended correctly

Blend Interior Effects as Group is a photoshop layer effects feature that seems to not have an alternative in Affinity Photo. From my understanding what it simply does is change the order of operations of applying effects blend modes and layer blend modes.

Normally the layer blend mode will be applied and then after that any effects and their blend modes will be applied. This option swaps that. The layer effects will blend first and then the layer blend mode will take effect.

In this instance I was using a layer effect, color overlay, with a blend mode and then also blending the layer using a entirely different blend mode.

Is there a way to change the order of operations so that layer effects blend before layers blend

Hi Silix,

Welcome to the forums :)

Unfortunately Affinity doesn't currently support these advanced blending modes so upon import it will revert to a 'Passthrough' blendmode.

We hope to add these features in a future release of Affinity, unfortunately in the meantime we suggest rasterising the object/layers in Photoshop before saving as a PSD and importing into Affinity. This will ensure the look of the object is not changed, however we understand this is not ideal, my apologies!

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!
