Inktober 2018:Prompt 1:Poisonous

As an experiment the re-created the creature from inktober project

Just wanted to see what you could do with vector brushes in AD 1.7..

Artboard1@0.35x.jpg

Using new InkBrush Vector Set a (A-E) with multiple layering and repeating layer 'rasterize'
AD 1.7 and 500 x 500mm 300dpi
1.65 Brush set

Can you really get detail similar to that on the left from just the vectors similar to those on the right?

You can but you need to set it out in layers. Like you would with oil paint.
Also it it the Brushes that are creating the textures not the vector line

Once a texture/layer is complete  it grouped and rasterized then  painted over again ...and again..Otherwise AD will start to slow down...
Set layer to Average and Brush to Average for effect and then reduce to transparency down for 'glazing'

Ah, so the total number of vectors that have been painted is ‘hidden’ by rasterizing some of them at various points in the process.
That makes sense. Initially I thought that the visible vectors were the only ones that had been used. That would have been really amazing. (I’m not an artist so I don’t know how these sorts of things are done, so thanks for explaining.)
That said, it’s still impressive work, both by you and the Affinity team.

:)...yep I was just adding a sequence...It would be difficult to create it with so few vectors..and thank you!

Thanks for sharing that.
It’s always interesting to see how people who know what they are doing do what they do.

Yes...One fantastic advantage of this forum:)

Inktober 2018:Prompt 17:Swollen

Refined the Brush set with new InkBrush:Render (set added to resources: inkBrush - Vector - Render) Vector Brushes and started again with a different image

brush test swollen@0.35x.jpg

Used same technique with layering and repeated Rasterization with Brush sets: Render and inking

500 x 500 mm 300dpi and AD 1.7
