Show Rotation Centre. Doesn’t override anchor point in Transform Studio

Recommended Posts

Show Rotation Centre—displays a movable rotation centre about which the shape can be rotated. (From Help File).

When setting a new rotation centre with show rotation centre on, it is possible to manually move the selected object around the new rotation centre point. This is expected behaviour. However when the Transform studio is used to input a specific rotation amount, the Anchor point setting in Transform studio overrides the Show Rotation Centre setting. Unexpected behaviour?

I think I should be able to set the rectangles rotation point to the centre of the circle with Show Rotation Centre, then Duplicate the rectangle and set 30 degrees in Transform studio, then Power Duplicate to place the rectangles around the circle. Is that correct?

Can you confirm if the Show Rotation Centre  positional movement being ignored by Transform Studio is a bug. This would be a really useful feature if we could use the keypad setting in Transform Studio to enter precise rotation details.

Hi DM1,

Please bear in mind that QA are not around at weekends to monitor the bugs forum. However what you're describing is a bug.

On the Desktop if you have 'Show Rotation Centre' enabled then using the Transform Panel will allow you to rotate around that centre and ignore the anchor point set. With Show Rotation Centre off, it will use the anchor point selected in the Transform Panel.

Unfortunately however, the iPad is missing this. I'll get it passed on to development as it should follow the same behaviour as desktop!
