I just ugraded to the latest AP, .122 and notice that when I open "old" files saved in .120 the lighting is wrong, much too brighter. Is it supposed to be like this?

When you say "lighting" are you referring to the lighting filters, @srg? Or are you referring to the overall brightness of the image?

I also wonder why no feed back on my other questions....

Your other recently posted you've are suggestions, and posted in one of the Suggestions topics.

Serif staff typically do not respond to suggestions, so if you get any response it would most likely be from a community user who feels that they have something to contribute.

well, one was related to a bad color. rendering when saved in PSD and then opened in affinity photo and dropboxed two files as requested.

Yes, but that one had some feedback :)

Here's a link to the Dropbox folder for the file request.

I just want to reiterate what Walt said—we rarely directly respond to suggestions and feedback as bugs take priority. If we responded to every bit of feedback (as much as we would love to) it would increase the workload and take us away from getting the bugs reported.

That being said, it is always read by us and always very much appreciated.

It looks like MEB was dealing with the PSD issue so it might be worth tagging him to bump the post.

Yes I understand. Sometimes though it may not be clear if it is that I am missing or doing something wrong.

I uploaded the files. They are the .jpeg and and the .aphoto as saved in the previous AP 1.7.0..

Attached are a screen shot of a .jpeg  and .aphoto opened respectively with apple Preview  and AP .122. You can clearly see that .122 brighten the lighting filter.

Hey srg,

I've spent quite some time looking into your issue this afternoon (uninstalling and reinstalling older and newer builds) and I'm getting the same results in 120 as I get in 122.

The only way I can get a similar result is if I uncheck the Levels and Lighting Adjustment in the bottom stack.

Are you just using the Adobe RGB profile in 16bit in Affinity?

There has been a lot of work gone into improving filters and adjustments but not between 120 and 122 (as far as I know) but I will confirm this with dev.

Yes I am using adobeRGB. Before uploading the photo I opened the files just to check them again and the screen shots are from them. I "corrected" many of them just fine tuning the lighting live filter.

I uploaded another Photo of which I have "corrected" the lightening filter in .122. This evening I opened it in .122 and the lighting diffuse was 100%

I am sure that I have saved it at much less than 100%. I opened other files, and the diffuse lighting was super bright at 100 %. Not how I have saved it. This happened in not all the files. I think that for whatever reason the .122 when opening, at least certain files, brings the light to its maximum.

I uploaded also the orchid file because I opened it and the light was very strong. I opened it more than once just to make sure (not saving it of course!) and I took a screen shot which I attached.

Hope this observation may help.

I've tried saving and reopening between the versions and the values aren't changing. The only thing to note is that a Lighting filter by default starts with 100% Diffuse.

I'm really not sure what to say at this point if I can't reproduce it. We really need a solid recipe to log this with dev :(

I understand. What it seems clear at this point is that the 122 was, may be at times but certainly in the files I uploaded, opening the lighting filter at 100% no matter how it was left in the saved version. I am not sure if anything was done that could  have changed the problem but with the 123 I ham not having that problem.
