Move back tool

Recommended Posts

If you mean a ‘pushback’ tool for intertwining shapes, no it doesn’t. You have to fake it by clipping a copy of one of the shapes where there’s an overlap.

What does removing the background have to do with moving back?? o.O

Please post the image whose background you’re trying to remove.

I watched one of the videos and this is the background I am trying to remove?

What happened when you tried to apply what you learned from the video?

I wonder if I’m doing something wrong

Not selecting all of the background for deletion, perhaps? :P

1. Open the cat photo. It will show in the Layers panel as ‘(Pixel) Background’.

2. Place (‘Commands > Place’) the astronaut picture on top.

3. Lower the opacity of the astronaut layer so you can see the cat.

4. Resize and move the astronaut pic so the cat’s head fills the helmet.

5. Set the opacity of the astronaut layer back to 100% and rasterize it.

6. Switch to the Selections Persona.

7. Sweep inside the visor area with the Smart Selection Brush Tool.

8. Back in the Pixel Persona, select both layers.

9. Long-press on the canvas and choose ‘Duplicate’ from the menu bar.

10. In the Layers panel, tap on the cat’s face layer.

11. Drag the cat’s face layer above the astronaut layer.

12. Hide the top (visor) layer to reveal the cat’s face.

13. Switch back to the Selections Persona.

14. Subtract the background fragments from the selection.

15. Back in the Pixel Persona, long-press and choose ‘Duplicate’.

16. Delete the original cat’s face layer to discard the unwanted background.

17. Long-press on the canvas and choose ‘Deselect’.

18. Unhide the top (visor) layer and reduce its opacity to reveal the cat’s face.

Those instructions are for iPad! The desktop apps don’t have a Selections Persona; they also don’t have (because they don’t need) a ‘long-press’ gesture.

Edit: My instructions are for Affinity Photo but I see from your OP that you’re using Affinity Designer. You really should use an image editor, not a vector drawing program, for any serious photo manipulation.

How would I use affinity designer to add color and make these designs like the ones shown above?

Please refer to your numerous other threads about this. If you get stuck when trying to apply any of the suggested techniques, post to a new thread with a specific request to help you move on to the next step.

You really need to focus your questions to one operation or aspect, doing that will help people help you.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

These are not my own words but I sure like this quote.

For the cat in the space suit how do I hide and unhide the visor?

In the Layers Studio, tap on the checkbox for the visor layer. The problem here, however, is that you have a famous face showing behind the visor; in the earlier example the visor area only showed reflections, which is what you need for something like this.

Just follow the steps I gave you earlier in this thread. If you get stuck, post your *.afphoto file to show what you’ve done so far..

How do I show less of the reflection in the spacesuit and more of the cat

Reduce the opacity of the visor layer at the last step of the procedure I outlined.
