Feature Request: View Brushes by Name

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm exploring the Affinity apps right now, really hoping I can use them to transition away from Adobe.

I'd really love to see an option to view paintbrushes in the Brushes palette by name -- or ideally, as a small square thumbnail of the brush with the name alongside it. I see that the name is technically there, and you can edit it by right-clicking in the brush palette, but there seems to be no way to view them that way.

I have a LOT of brushes I'd like to import, but a lot of them are hard to distinguish or identify by a simple brush stroke (whether because they have an odd texture, or they're too large to see properly, or whatever.) Viewing by name would be a huge boon as I switch over from Photoshop.

Thanks!

I agree with you that being able to view the brushes by name (in addition to how they look) would be an improvement. Be aware though that by hovering you will be able to see the name of the brush (at least, on Mac). It takes approx. half a second before the name becomes visible with my settings for Tooltip Delay.

Oh, nice! Yeah, I'd much rather be able to scroll thru a list to search for a brush by name, but this will be helpful as a stopgap in the meantime. Thanks!
