Nichod
The smart snapping / guides are really coming along! Any chance we can get distance functionality from other shapes as well? I added a gif demonstrating the functionality. Depa, GRScott, Petar Petrenko and 7 others
Staff MEB Posted August 21, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 21, 2014 Great suggestion. Very useful for a lot of situations. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Cinzio
I would like to add my approval to this suggestion. Showing the distance between objects makes life infinitely easier. After having used two different implimentations of this functionality (fireworks & keynote) I notice it's absence in other applications. This would be a win for many users. Raskolnikov
Would be perfect for many projects and designs who are in need of technical precision. +1 A_B_C

Raskolnikov
Sure Andyajon, use a calculator to know the relative distances of objects it's too slowwwww and exasperating....

bitsandnumbers
Yeah, that's Sketch in this GIF, and I really think Affinity should inspire themselves from this app ! It's got the best distances tool available today. That's also why I won't use Designer for iconography and stuffs, and stick with Sketch for now. Staff Ben Posted November 5, 2014 Staff Share Posted November 5, 2014 All those +1's. ;) It is in the plan... snapping and layout improvements will be ongoing. I'm going to be doing some work on it once I've done with my current tasks. manudetroit
Ben, what is the status for this update? if this is something happening anytime? Thanks, m
Staff Ben Posted August 5, 2015 Staff Share Posted August 5, 2015 Sorry - not done much on this yet. There are a raft of improvements I'm making to the core tools. The aim to add better scalability to our tools - let you edit guides and grids in any appropriate tool, etc. This is taking longer than I hoped as I have other things on the boil (like PSD support and Lightroom workflow). Once this is done, I'll look to adding these other features. alexdixon
Plus one for this feature, Adobe Fireworks had it nailed pretty well if you want another example. At the moment I find myself using squares to measure distances :<
