KerryRose Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Hey guys, I am trying to colour in this object, but without colouring in the centre or the eight wee cut out sections. (So basically everything inside the black lines) I cannot for the life of me work out how to do this?! I feel like it must be so super easy and I'm missing something obvious because even MS Paint can do this... Help! Quote
Old Bruce Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Select all, and subtract the front objects. That set of buttons are on the upper right but greyed out because you have nothing selected. 3 minutes ago, KerryRose said: Help Please Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. Guest Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Hello KerryRose, It would be easier to create the outer shape with a circle and shapes distributed around it encroaching on it. Select the set and do a Boolean operation "Add". Then draw the inner circle on top, select the whole (the outer shape and the circle) and do a Boolean operation "Substract". Then put the chosen color. Quote
v_kyr Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Or use shapes like the gear/cog and segment tools. The gear allows to alter it's settings and gives the inner circle hole, the 8 teeth for which you can adjust their roundness ... etc. Then place on the appropriate positions segements. Select segments and gear and do a substract, so you finally are left with the holes in the teeth. dutchshader Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Select super outside and outside > boolean add. Place the result at the bottom of the layer stack, select all and do a boolean subtract.
