Affinity Designer downloaded, cannot open file

actually, topic says everything already. I'm running Windows 7, might this be the prob?

Are you running Windows 7 SP1 with Aero enabled? If not, you won’t be able to run AD on your system but I wouldn’t expect you to be unable to open the installer file that you downloaded!

Right-click the installer file in an Explorer window and choose ‘Properties’. In the Properties dialog, go to the Digital Signatures tab and click on an entry in the signature list to highlight that entry. The ‘Details’ button will become enabled, and when you press it and wait for several seconds you will get a message telling you whether or not the digital signature is OK. If it’s not OK, you need to download a fresh copy of the installer file (and if it is OK, the problem lies elsewhere and there’s no point in downloading the installer file all over again).

Thanks a lot! I did so and the digital signature ist ok. But even after updating to Windows 10 I still can't open the program. Any ideas what else could be the Problem?

Are you running the 64 bit version of Windows 7?

That’s a good point! The installer probably won’t run on any 32-bit version of Windows, regardless of whether it’s 7, 8.1 or 10.

The installer will run, as in open an installer window but it should return with a setup failed error and the log file in %TEMP%\AffinitySetup\ will state 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'

I believe with 1.7 the installer will return with a better error than 'setup failed'
