MJV
Hello to all, After reading so many praises to AD, I'm starting my trial period. Most of my usage will be related to occasional icon drawing and, more consistently, to map/cartography drawing. Since I'm an archaeologist, many of them will be topographical maps. So, my questions are: 1) Are you using AD for cartography and maps design? 2) If so, can you share a bit your experience and some examples of your work? Best, -- MJV
Staff MattP Posted April 30, 2015 Staff Share Posted April 30, 2015 Hi MJV - welcome to the forums! :) I can't help directly with your questions as I'm not used to drawing maps, but I can imagine that you'll need very strong and productive core tools like the Pen and Node tools - both of which are very effective in Designer... If you need things like a Contour Tool then we don't have one yet, but one is on the way and in the meantime you can often work around it by using lines on existing paths and just choosing Layer->Expand Stroke to get the geometry of the stroked (offset) path. If you need any specific tools in the future then do say - we're always listening and very happy to add things to our list that seem like they would benefit the community :) Thanks again, Matt
Dave Harris
We also have text on a path now, which I imagine you'll use a lot. We don't have dimension lines or proper arrow-heads yet.
MJV
Thanks for the inputs, Matt & Dave. I'll check them. In the meantime, I want a cat avatar too. ;) Andrew Tang
