Josie
Is there a way I can do a flying cat on the affinity designer for iPad or a cat with laser eyes? and also how do I do a cat spewing rainbows with just images specially when I don’t draw and I do all my designs from just images. walt.farrell
Yes, you can do that. However, you will probably need to do some studying of available videos (those supplied by Serif for the Affinity applications, and those available on YouTube from other designers), and possibly take some courses on Udemy or another site that offers design courses applicable to the Affinity applications. (That does not necessarily mean about the Affinity Applications, but Affinity-specific courses would be a good starting point.) One issue, of course, will be finding the images that show what you need, and are of appropriate quality and format. Perhaps someone else can. Since you need to know a lot, you might start at the to of the Serif list of videos (the stuff for beginners) then look at any others in order that seem like they could be relevant. Probably anything to do with layers, and blending, but almost anything could help. And you seem to need basic information, so I wouldn't even restrict it to iPad-related videos. Most techniques from the desktop Affinity applications will also work on the iPad, though there will be differences in how specific actinos are performed. But initially I think you need to know what is possible, and the exact details of how (where it's different between the desktop and the iPad) may be of secondary importance. Josie
Are there any videos on how to do cats with laser eyes and cats in suits? Also spewing rainbows? Just using images?
Sara72
Hi Josie, No, none i spotted for Affinity, you could do a search for tutorials for other programs trying to do the same kind of thing and adapt it to the Affinity program your using. But a lot of the work you’ve posted so far involves some kind of design/drawing skill and knowledge of the program being used. Maybe get to know how to use the program first and where all the tools are, Are you using Affinity Photo or Designer? Designer is more for graphic design work and you would need to learn to vector trace your photos/images with the pen tool if you’re not up to designing from scratch, there is no auto trace that magically turns them into cartoons, other programs I think have been suggested? lots of tutorials on YouTube related to vector tracing, it’s pretty much the same technique no matter what program your using. If it’s photo you using then the links I posted are very useful for editing and manipulating photos on the Affinity Photo iPad app. stokerg

If you don't draw you need to learn how to cut out the parts from different images you like/want and paste them into another to create the final desired image . Your first post shows images where this technique has clearly been used. As for lasers and cats, let's just say that Kirk had the right idea. stokerg 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Josie
Yes I just can not figure out how to take the background apart from the photo and put it into another image.
Sara72
Josie, i think you are getting confused with the two programs? You remove the background differently in Designer, a clipping mask would be the easiest, photo has the best tools for photo editing and removing area's like backgrounds, please confirm what program you are using? Josie
Is there a way I can do any of these in affinity designer? And how would I do these using the color gradient tool etc. please walk me through it step by step. Also it takes awhile and is time consuming to erase a background using the erase tool, any tips to speed that up.
