willyt
In illustrator and lots of other software you can choose the point about which you want to rotate or scale something. I don't seem to be able to do this in Affinity. I would really like this feature. Best Will Wcapellan
Matthias
Hi Will, I think the anchor point is already on the big fat Affinity list … if not, count me in (with numerical feedback, of course :) , preferably in the context panel :) ). Nichod
Agree with the request, and Matthias's suggestion as well.
retrograde
Along with this would be the ability to edit (rotate and/or scale) nodes independent of the overall shape. Yesterday I had a shape similar to a donut, a circular shape inside another larger circular shape. It was a "compound" shape. I needed to scale down the inside circular shape using just the nodes from the smaller inside shape... how would I do this currently? See screenshots. retrograde
Actually the only way, I just tried, would be numerically in the transform panel. Hardly an ideal way but I guess it's there... Staff MEB Posted August 21, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 21, 2014 If its a compound shape you can select the smaller circle/shape in the layers panel and scale it independently of the rest. The compound shape will then update itself. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
retrograde
Hi again MEB :) see my screenshots. I don't see the 2 curves in the layers panel... Staff MEB Posted August 21, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 21, 2014 Oh, sorry. My mistake. When you said compound shape i've taken it literally and thought you have used a compound shape. In that case you're right there's no way to scale it. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
retrograde
No worries, sorry, I thought that might've been the case. My bad for using naming conventions from a different app. Would like to see more robust tools for editing nodes... ... another point re the nodes is how when you click on a section of a path it bends the path, which is very cool and I like this behaviour, but sometimes you just want to move that segment, not bend it. Currently you have to select the 2 nodes (to define the section) and then click on one of the selected nodes to move that section. Normally you would just select that section of the path and move it. Perhaps a key press to tell the app I want to move this segment not bend it would be a solution...? Staff MEB Posted August 21, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 21, 2014 There's currently compound shapes in Affinity Designer too. It's not an Illustrator or Sketch name convention only. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
retrograde
Yes but I think what I was describing as a compound path is defined differently in the 2 apps...
