File/Place gotcha (easy fix)

Recommended Posts

I know that Place has been tweaked for text and image, but there's a thing I keep tripping over, for which there's a very simple fix.

I want to place an image, but I happen to have a text layer selected, so it offers me text placement only. This is understandable, but it's a real pain.

The very easy fix is in the drop-down in the file dialogue. As it is, it only offers text files. All you need to do is add an extra option in the drop-down for image files.

Thank you so much!

This as far as I am concerned is a very bad, new, feature.

It caught me out all day yesterday when I was constantly adding text then images to my document

It does not need a drop-down it needs rethinking

On Windows, you can also type a filter expression into the file-name box, e.g., *.jpg, and press enter. That will refresh the list of files, and you can choose the one that you want. Or even *.* or simply * will work. Or you can put the leading part of the filename, such as arches* if you know it.

Still only a workaround, but perhaps it will help.

We believe this has been addressed in the latest (#371) beta build. Please retest this behaviour.

Tested in the most current #367 RC2, still must use Walt's workaround.
