Linda mccormick Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Is Apple photo and affinity photo compatible? It seems that Apple Photo doesn't recognise the Affinity Photo format correctly. I want to keep my edited photos in Apple photo and the haze removal filter in particular doesn’t save the original picture: the duplicate layer and original layer are equally affected. I have noticed the same problems in several other editing applications, but am not certain whether it’s a compatibility problem or a user problem since I’m just starting with affinity. thanks linda Quote
R C-R Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Apple Photo does not support layers or the native Affinity file format. But you can use the Affinity Photo extensions to apply some edits in place to photos in your Apple Photos library, or use the 'Edit in Affinity Photo' one to open the photo in Affinity Photo, edit it there, click Save, & accept the edit back in Apple Photos. Apple Photos also always saves the original file as well as any edits to it, so you can revert to the unedited version at any time. Linda mccormick Posted April 24, 2019 Author Posted April 24, 2019 Ok, so what if I edit a photo just using affinity. Is there anyway to get that afphoto back into Apple so I can show it on our Apple TV or make a movie or slide show using it? Is that what you mean by native affinity file format. In other words, what can I do with a file of edited photos if I can’t use them in Apple photos. Yes, I’m new to Apple too! becoming frustrated, Linda Quote

To do that, export a copy of the file you edited in Affinity Photo in one of the formats Apple Photos accepts, like JPEG or PNG, & add that to your Apple Photos library.
