Selecting a portion of an imported pdf page

Recommended Posts

I have some content produced in Page Plus which I want to transfer to Publisher. As Publisher does not read Page Plus files I saved it as a pdf and imported. I had some text saved in a box which I wished to select and group together but this did not work, Publisher wanted the whole page or nothing.

On the attached file I wished to select the individual items on the left side, also the "Marking System" part on the right hand side separately so I could move it to another page.

Hi @john S B,

I've never used Page Plus and as you have found out APub cannot import those files. It would be better to post the exported PDF file so that we can try and see with that file what happens on import in APub.

Cheers,
d.

Your choices with a PDF are to Open it (File > Open), which will let you choose a specific set of pages (or all), or to Place it as an embedded document (File > Place) which will give you one specific page.

The first approach populates a new Publisher document directly with pages from the PDF; 1 PDF page per Publisher page, with all content directly editable. Again, you choose which set of pages are included.

The second approach places the one page you choose on the Context Toolbar as an embedded document within your Publisher document. This page content is not directly editable. If you need to edit the page content (or select it to copy it) you can click Edit Document on the Context Toolbar, or double-click on the embedded page. Either will open the complete PDF file in a new tab in the Publisher window. You can navigate to the page you want, copy the content, then close the tab, and paste the copied information into your Publisher document where you want it.
