Point Transform Tool: Transform panel does not update

Recommended Posts

Hi,

According to the help topic Transforming Objects, under "To transform a selected object about a specific point", using the Point Transform Tool:

While using the tool, the Transform panel changes functionality to report distances (ΔX, ΔY), scaling percentage (S) and angle (ΔR) pertinent to the current transform.

As far as I can see, the panel does indeed change, but the distances, scaling and angle are not updated: they stick stubbornly to zero. The tooltip does update, but doesn't display the delta values.

(AD 1.7.0.9, Mac OS 10.14.4)

Cheers,

H

I see that same behavior on Windows.

Apparently, though, the Windows version of Affinity's Help has not yet been updated to include the information you quoted.

This is by design - the panel doesn't show the transform of the object when in the Point Transform Tool - it only allows you to input deltas to apply a transform about the transform origin.

You'll notice also that if you enter a value into this panel, it will reset to 0 after the transform is applied.

Thanks Ben. Maybe the help file needs modification, as the Transform panel does not 'report' these measurements.

While using the tool, the Transform panel changes functionality to report distances (ΔX, ΔY), scaling percentage (S) and angle (ΔR) pertinent to the current transform.

Apologies - Docs here - we missed this but it's now fixed in 1.9 beta.

Now using...

"While using the tool, the Transform panel changes functionality to allow you to enter distances (ΔX, ΔY), scaling percentage (S) and angle (ΔR) in relation to the current transform origin."
