Good day all, I am a Pap Pap that is not "entirely" computer illiterate. I enjoy dabbling with making creations for the Grandchildren for Holidays and Birthdays. I tinkered, several years ago, with the Free Photo Shop and was somewhat successful. I wish to tinker further with literally, taking a .jpg picture of myself, wife etc. and putting it into a 5-10 second (existing) .gif. Example: Put my (.jpg) face on a (.gif) Puppy Dog walking up the sidewalk then sending it to one of our grandchildren for their Birthday. Gapeesh? Will Affinity do this? I would hate to purchase then be disappointed in the end. Is it more / less complex than what I tinkered with in PS several years ago? Thanks yall kindly....

Hello @TJC,
Welcome to this forum.
I think your question would be better posed in  Support & Questions Forum.
Now to your questions:
Affinity Photo and Designer,  can not  create  an animated GIFs.
Yes, Affinity Photo is similarly complex as PS.

Cheers

Serif offers a 14-day money back guarantee if you purchase from their Affinity Store, but there’s also a free 10-day trial: https://affin.co/phototrial

Please note that the trial clock runs continuously from the moment you first launch the app.
