Text on a Curve

How do you make text follow a curve, for example wrapping text around a circle? I've found a video that shows creating an ellipse shape, then clicking on it with the Artistic Test tool, but that doesn't seem to work in the desktop version of Affinity Photo.

You can’t create text on a path in Affinity Photo, but you can edit the text or the path in an object created in Affinity Designer.

Thanks, that'll be good to know if I ever get Affinity Designer.

What about the Rectangular to Polar filter, seems like that should do the trick, but it just turns the text upside down and tilts it.

You don’t need Affinity Designer! Just open @dutchshader’s file in Affinity Photo and copy objects from it.

It’s a long time since I last played with a Rectangular to Polar filter, but I seem to remember that you don’t get much control beyond setting the shape of the canvas or selection (square for a circular arc) and placing the text to determine how tilted it becomes.

If you have a well-defined curve such as part of a circle or a sine wave, then you can do it using Equations (Filters > Distort > Equations).

I have produced some macros for doing this.  If you can tell me exactly what you want, I can point you to something useful. Try this for starters:
