Import and Export to Photos App

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I’m trying to workout how to do the following..

1. I have a photo in the Photo’s app.

2. I want to edit this in Affinity Photo - I can see I can impact from photos so this is ok.

3. Once I’ve finished my editing I want to save the fixes back over the original image in photos.

How can I do this? As far as I can see there’s no way to do this, keep the date of the original, etc. What am I missing?

Regards,

Simon

To save your edits back to photo library use Export, select format (jpg etc) then tap Share in bottom left corner and select Save Image. :)  the original image will still be in Photo library.

Hi SimonPickad,

You can export an image backout to the Photos app but it won't overwrite the original.  To do this, just tap on the Document menu and select Export and on the Export screen, tap on the Share button and then Save Image and that image will then be added to the Photos app as a new image.

I believe due to us not being passed a file name by the Photo's app, that's why we can't overwrite the original image :(

Ok, thanks for the replies, yep that was how I was doing it. Just seems like a few extra steps you need to manage.

I wish I could edit the photo directly via an extension within the Photos app. Maybe I need to look for a different app for quick fixes / heals.

Regards,

Simon
