Designer and Publisher .afassets cross compatibility?

I am seeing problems in cross compatibility between Designer and Publisher when importing and exporting .afasset files

Cross Compatibility Problem 1 - Designer Asset file when imported into Publisher....

I created a new custom asset file in Designer with an image and some text fields.... When imported into Publisher beta the scaling of images is wrong and text frames also appear with different font sizes and scale when compared to using the Asset in Designer. (NB: Document setup is the same in Designer and Publisher @ 300dpi)

Cross Compatibility Problem 2 - Publisher Asset file when imported into Designer...

Does not import... error message as attached.

Are these just Publisher Beta compatibility issues?

It looks like you are trying to import a Publisher 1.7 asset into Designer 1.6.

In general the older programs cannot read files from the newer ones.

Yes thats the problem   Designer1.7  beta does not have these  issues with Publisher Beta

If you create the file in one of the beta releases, you can't use it with 1.6 stable. It would only work within the beta programs. Don't use them for any projects that are important to you.

Hi amcd,

As others have stated using 1.7 files will not work in 1.6 due to code changes causing file incompatibility. However 1.6 into 1.7 should work without issue. Would you be able to attach an assets file that demonstrates the Designer assets not looking correct in Publisher please? If you could also include some comparison screenshots showing these issues that would be very helpful to us!
